Update on Mercy Corps in Myanmar

Faithful readers recall that 10% of sales this month at FashionEthic.com have been pledged to Mercy Corps' emergency Myanmar relief fund. Here is an update we received today in regards to what they are working on. Common misperception is that no one can get into the country or do any good, but I think you'll agree that isn't the whole truth.

Myanmar Cyclone Response
Mercy Corps is supporting the UK-based medical aid agency Merlin (www.merlin.org.uk) to provide relief to cyclone survivors in Myanmar, as part of Merlin's emergency health care mission. We are providing Merlin with technical support — currently three of our most experienced relief workers are in Myanmar, with more on the way — and $500,000 worth of funding for clean water and sanitation, a rice seed distribution to farmers, an emergency economic-recovery project (cash-for-work), and medical supplies
.
